(2011-08-22)Sales of incandescent bulb get banned from Oct. 2012

National Development and Reform Commission of China has released exposure draft for phase-out of incandescent light bulb recently. Products concerned are ordinary lighting bulbs, reflection incandescent bulbs, spotlights, decorative lights and those for special usage are not included.

The manufacturing and sales amount of incandescent light bulb reached 3.85 billion and 1.07 billion in 2010, as reported, and electricity consumed on lighting takes 12% of the total consumption. If all the incandescent being used could be replaced by energy-saving lights, electricity with a total amount of 48 billion kwh could be conserved annually.

The phase-out will be carried out as below: ordinary lighting bulbs over 100 watts get banned in selling and import from Oct.1, 012, 60 watts from Oct.1, 2014 and 15 watts from Oct. 1, 2016.
